Friday’s Event

I’m somewhat offended that I wasn’t one of those privileged enough to be invited to Friday’s event (I’m joking, of course).

While I have a real good idea of what’s going to transpire and be announced, I’m interested in hearing it from someone who is there. If you’re going to be at the event and want to fill me in immediately afterwards, please get in touch with me. I won’t be in my office tomorrow, but I’ll be happy to give you the number to my Blackberry so that you can get ahold of me.

Thanks.

Heh, it was funny to hear the voice mails they left and read the e-mails they sent. It put a smile on my face on otherwise boring days. -- Webmaster, Mitchell News

If it wasn't obvious, this site is primarily for things about Mitchell. It's one thing to talk about the politicians and their personal lives. In my opinion, and obviously the opinion of many others, it "comes with the territory". Aaron Brinegar, whom I have never met, obviously has nothing to do with this web site. I don't see how any of the personal details of his life have anything to do with the City of Mitchell. I suppose you can somehow rationalize by the fact that was/is married to Julie, who happens to be friends with Danny. Given enough time or leeway, however, anyone can rationalize anything. I'll admit that there have been a few things posted here that, in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have posted. It's too late now, however. I posted a link to pictures of someone's daughter. Afterwards, I wished I hadn't, but it was too late then. Those pictures, as well, really had nothing to do with the issues at hand, and no, I shouldn't have put up a link to them. I didn't do it to cause any harm to her, I did it because her father is a piece of shit. It's not her fault who her dad is, and I'm sorry. If Defective Phelix were caught in an extramarital affair, would I post it? Absolutely. As someone who has voluntarily became what I consider a "public official" and loves attention, why wouldn't I? If I had proof that Danny or Butch were doing the same, it would also be on the site. When you decide to bring in a third-party who has absolutely nothing to do with the matter-in-hand (which also, in my opinion, has nothing to do with how well one could effectively run the City), the focus begins to stray. Please do provide me some examples as to how the "rules" change. There really aren't a whole lot of rules to this site. There have been *very* few things that people have posted that I didn't allow to show up on the site -- the majority of them were about me. Because I'm a reasonable person, however, I'll make you a deal. Identify yourself in your posts (and provide proof to me, if I request it) and you can say anything you want. In addition, I'm not sure why you think I'm apparently kissing Danny's ass. Anyone who knows me well knows that I don't kiss anyone's ass. There have been plenty of opportunities where I could have and it would've benefited me tremendously, but I don't work like it. In conclusion, let me put it like this: I set up this web site. I pay money for the server it runs on. I spend my time to maintain this web site. I don't charge anyone to use it, or force you to identify yourself when you do. I can do whatever the hell I want to with it. If I wanted to censor the things that people say that I don't like, I would -- but I don't. With a very few exceptions, I permit anyone to say anything they want. I could be a total prick, but I'm not. I put this site up and open myself up to all sorts of retaliation because of it. Do I care? Yes, but I'm doing it because I believe that you should have the right to say what you want and I believe in the public's right to know. My goal was to change the way this town works. Obviously, I'm not a miracle worker, but I'd like to think that things are working just a little bit differently nowadays. It's my ball, so I get to define the rules of the game. Don't like it? Either stop playing and go home, or get your own ball and start your own game. -- Webmaster, Mitchell News

Hi Aaron, While I wasn't personally involved in posting any of the things that were said here, I don't think it's unreasonable for you to want your personal life to stay that way. I'll do my part to attempt to keep such comments from making it through to the site. I wish you the best of luck in sorting out your issues. -- Webmaster, Mitchell News

My name is Aaron Brinegar and in as much as I have been personally named on numerous posts to this blog let me once and for all set some matters straight concerning my wife, my demons, our divorce, and Julie’s relationship with Danny Terrell. This is of course embarrassing and humiliating. Our personal life should be of absolutely no concern to anyone and has nothing to do whatsoever with the election. My response has a threefold purpose. First of all Julie and I are in fact in the process of divorce and I assume 100% responsibility for the dissolution of our failed marriage. No one should have to live with an unemployed alcoholic. There are other issues certainly, but this was the principle cause. Second, Julie and Danny Terrell began to bond nearly a year ago over discussions concerning the breakup of their respective previous marriages. I believe Julie was totally justified in seeking solace and comfort in this “special friendly relationship” outside our marriage when I was unable to provide the kind of nurturing she was seeking. Was I hurt by this? Yes, unmercifully so. Was their liaison overtly sexual? No it was not. Believe me I would know. Julie has her faults, as we all do, but she has never lied to me. She is certainly one of the biggest flirts around but she is not promiscuous. Was it an affair of the heart? Yes, most certainly, and I understand and I forgive her. I will always love Julie and she will soon be free to follow her heart wherever it may lead. Finally, I could care less about who is the next director of municipal affairs in the city of Mitchell. I have met Danny on a couple of occasions and he seems like a nice enough fellow. I bare him no ill will and wish he and Butch both good luck in the upcoming election. May the best man win. So there you go folks…the real truth. Allow me to reiterate. Julie is divorcing me because of my drinking, Julie and Danny Terrell are special friends not lovers, and none of it should have a damn thing to do with the Mayoral race. I hope for my family’s sake and that of our children that this is the last post on this shameful thread of rumor and innuendo. If you feel the need for further discussion on this matter contact me personally instead of posting to this blog. My address, phone number and e-mail address can be obtained through the Clerk’s office.

I believe you took that from this article on boingboing. I'd encourage everyone to read the whole article (as well as others) and the newly amended text of the relevant laws before drawing any conclusions. In addition, despite the "Last Thursday" that was mentioned, this not happen last Thursday. HR 3402 was signed into law roughly 21 months ago. -- Webmaster, Mitchell News

*shrug* I presumed that since they invited the Mayor Chastain that they'd extend an invitation to our next mayor as well. -- Webmaster, Mitchell News
