Political Favors?

Here’s part of an e-mail I received:

Talk about your political favors. Isaac Terrell is the new dispatcher for MPD. Wonder if Dan knew that before he pitched the position so hard at the city council meeting…

I wonder that too. Nepotism, perhaps? I’ve met Isaac, but don’t really know him so I can’t comment on his qualifications.

“…his best friend, Danny Compton, is remodeling the police station for the city.

Interesting.

Interesting, indeed. What do you think?

Has anyone heard who the new Chief of Police is? What is the rumor going around on this?

prob not a real bright idea posting the names of minors on here. why don't you try talking to their parents if you have such a big issue.

Unrelated but not sure where to post: This is an attempt to dispell any rumors regarding the happenings at our home. I was approached by my son, Justin Brewer, that there is a nasty rumor going around this wonderful small town that someone overdosed at our house some time ago. He has heard this "rumor" through Ethan Reynolds and Tanner Ray. Please be advised, nobody has ever overdosed at our home.We do not allow this actiivity on our property! We have a alcohol and tobacco free environment that we utilize to teach schools, non profit organizations, and individuals about several species of deer and elk. If you have any questions regarding Pakuna Wildlife Experience OR "the rumor", please contact myself or Tim at 849-3536.

Krystal, way to go !! Girl, you are gonna have mitchellraiser on your butt for that double punctuation quicker than I can type in 3 exclamation points!!!

No I am not calling my husband a dumbass because he is not a truck driver. He does drive a truck though. In the past, he was a truck driver for many years and the company he drove for did not allow new drivers who had their cdl's for less than 6 months drive alone. It was mandatory for them to drive/ride with someone else for the first 6 months. I know most companies are not like that but maybe they should be.

Well, well, well ... I see I am making the blogs again. Whoo hoo! Thought you guys forgot about me. Actually, I gave up looking at any of the blogs for Lent. It was pretty cool. Definitely a promise that would bring me closer to God, as I was spending waaayyy less time at the computer. Glad to see Dan and I are still having an affair. That's interesting. Reminds me a little bit of the semi truck ordinance in Mitchell ... on again, off again, on again, off again. Sorry, folks, even someone as good at multi-tasking as I am can't handle two men at once. And since I have one in the next room waiting on me to get off the computer (and his name is not Dan) ... I would probably assume that I am NOT dating the mayor or never was. Now, let's get a little bit more creative in our rumors. You could make up something a little better than the fact that I am dating someone who is only three years younger than my own father. ... I haven't been rumored to have been on drugs yet or had a sex change. Ha ha ha. Have a great day!! (Oops, jl, there's that double punctuation again.)

wazup? Thats called "typical Mitchell Indiana busy body, got my nose in everybody's shit to see what flavor it is, can't have that in the city because I'm personally offended (even if it doesn't effect me), bitch to everybody that will listen but not say anything at the council meeting in front of the person I'm talking about, stick my head in the sand and hope it goes away, spend my time figuring out who's screwing who and not worry about the well being of my neighbors(because who gives two shits about them anyway, I'm the important one here), start making assumptions about people's life styles and if they are on welfare or not (even if I don't know who they are) and make sure I call them names and tell them how to run their life especially if they disagree with me (because I'm right, just ask me I'll tell you), way of thinking. I hope this clear up the confusion wazup...it's just a way of life here on this little patch of heaven we call Mitchell, don't get use to it though....if the council keeps putting everything off till next month (they always say "lets look at this next month", whoever the really old guy that like looks like a ugly Kenny Rogers...he's the poorest excuse for a politician I've ever seen in my 60+ years) it won't be here long!

Wazup?
Wazup?

Yes but the seatbelt thing...it's a law. I don't agree with that particular law, but is a law none the less. I don't wear my seatbelt, and I know when I get pulled over, I'm going to get a ticket for it (thats how it works) The thing with the kids, that has been a law for awhile now...she should have known better, and she got what was coming. If you can't afford the ticket, put the damn seatbelt on you and your kids. @JL your post on 4/8 at 11:43. Are you calling your husband a dumbass too? He drives a truck, I figure when you say "dumbass truck drivers" you mean all of them. I take the other stance from you on the truck driver thing. When they drive down the street to take their test, if they pass (which I assume means they don't hit anything, or kill anybody) when they get back they get their CDL. So, you say they can't drive down the street to take the test, but once they pass...then it's ok to drive the semi down main street to deliver stuff, even if it was just a couple of days, hours, or minutes ago that they got their CDL.

Does anyone really have any morals anymore? Not many. Danny is by no means an angel, heck none of us are nowadays. Danny and Steve Burton go to the bar and pick up women while getting drunk. Steve is the designated driver as he doesn't drink. At least the money is staying in Lawrence County. Danny does care for the citizens of Mitchell as he is not very happy with Officer Butterball Blair writing all of these seatbelt violation tickets!!! Danny is fuming as he knows that we, the citizens, cannot afford them. The police dinged one woman with three seatbelt tickets at one time. That is 75 bigs ones for a lady who has three children and is trying to support them. Oh well. Life goes on.

jl
jl

The morals in our administration are no worse and probably much better than the Clinton's. As for Dan and Krystal..that was never a "situation"...he has been seeing someone else and she has too..they were never an item...just Butch's people trying to make it seem like they were.

As for Isaac being a deadbeat daddy.......he has his kid(s) alot....if he is so bad why does his ex-gf continue to have kids with hm??

run spell checker like you think everyone else should do. the point was/is that you are an ass and not better than everyone else like you seem to think. you have way to much time on your hands. you must sit on this site and refresh every five minutes waiting for someone to belittle. on the bright side, it's actually kind of amusing and if it weren't for you this site would be even more of a ghost town than it already is

Well, wouldn't you think that an interview would be in order.... for any position in Mitchell...? Dispatcher... Qualifications? none. Experience? none. Maturity? none. Marital Status? yes, no, yes, no.... not sure. Children? none I'm actually supporting... What is the deal? Seems as though the city council meetings have become the WWF matches.... attendees are wanting to see a good train wreck, and have no clue as to what government entails.... but then again..... the last administration didn't either.. AND.... no moral standards are expected.... Dan, Crystal.... what a mess... Isaac, are you gonna be a daddy again soon? Or I mean a dead beat daddy again soon?

ME!! I will take a persons word that actually works with training drivers and who would know the laws/requirements of this over yours any day. I also have talked with many other drivers and owners of companies and they have never heard the like,..." they have to test on city streets..." :)

@ me...what is the matter, dont like it when someone proves you wrong??

jl just has to be right RIGHT

jl
jl

I talked to a lady today from SAGE professional truck driving school. She stated it is nOT a requirement that the unlicensed driver in training drive on a citry street. She did say, however that they are required to take a road test buut it is nowhere stated it has to be done on a city street. There is a training site just inside Indy's city limits also and they do all the training there, driving, etc...and the drivers do not train on Indy's city streets.

rick
rick

It's highly possible that they have to I mean you have to drive your car down them in order to get licensed don't you?

jl
jl

I have the perfect solution....the Hackney guy that said he pays so many thousands of dollars in fuel and in paychecks every month for his trucking company can take some of his profits, invest them in one of the open acreages that is for sale along Highway 37, build his own training site. With as much land as he could buy there he could have the site set up with all kinds of traffic hazards, etc...he would still be in the community and the unlicensed drivers would be training off of city streets.

jl
jl

I'll get my cdl book out and check IF you use spellcheck. :)

jl
jl

My husband was a truck driver for many, many years and he was never required to drive on any city street. It was actually up to the company you worked for where you did your test driving. We have never heard of a requirement where they HAVE to drive on a city street.

me
me

you can get CDL book from licence branch study it and mabey you might even get to drive a semi down Maine street

jl
jl

Im going to check with the DOT to see if that is the case. It is hard for me to believe that is one of their requirements.

me

You all keep talking about training people for jobs. what do you think the testing truck drivers is for. JOBS. TheD.O.T. says they have to test on city streets. It is a Mitchell busines why should they go to Bedford to do it.

jl
jl

Good idea. Dont think it will ever happen though. Our city is like all other small towns across America. Once the jobs start disappearing they will not come back. People will have to drive miles and miles to earn a paycheck. Just a sign of the times.

H-J
H-J

I don't expect him to report to us everyday (although, he is OUR employee....maybe thats not a bad idea) However, have not heard a word about any of it since before he took office. Unfortunately I work on the nights that they have the city council meetings, so I'm not there to ask about these things. Sorry Jl...I can't sit back and shut up...Not my nature. DT is being held back by the city council....I really thought they would be different (since most of the old ones are gone...aren't they?) They job thing.....would love to see them here...but I think there are 2 bigger problems in that one. The NAFTA bill....and the unions that priced American workers out of the jobs and made it very worth while for these companies to move and ship in their product. Maybe....the government should take over the empty buildings these companies left behind, start making the products again (since these buildings were good enough and tooled at one time for the jobs) hire the workforce from the welfare pool (since they are already being paid...don't go crazy on that one...I know some people need it, and I'm glad they get it...but there are others). Then tell GM, GE, etc. to stick it and sell their products to their Mexican brothers and sisters...we'll make our own product, and charge them out the ass in tariff's to ship their product to the U.S. . Anybody agree with that?

jl
jl

The Mitchell city council sucks !!! I want a re-vote !!

Jobs, you think the mayor can wave a magic wand and creat new jobs?? Every city and town in Indiana are wanting jobs for their people. Trying to get Mitchell People educated to do some of the construction jobs for Leigh would be a start, but I dont know if it can be done. The civilian reveiw board for the police is something that DT could implement. I wish he would. The police board must consist of at least one retired Mitchell Police Officer, that leaves Phil the whinner, or Butch the bible thumper.(they both still think that Randy was the best policeman that Mitchell ever had.) The city council would have to change the board requirements and implement a reveiw board. It doesnt look like the council is willing to do anything to upset any of the general public. Letting unqualified truck drivers drive around in down town Mitchell, endangering the citizens of Mitchell because it was Oked by Butch and Handcock makes money off of it, is pure bull. Remember, when an accident occurs, and someone gets hurt, blame the city council for their actions.

Hell I have had 8 yrs. of disappointments. Let the guy work on these things. Im sure when he has enough info to report he will report it. He doesnt have top report every second or he wont have time to do his job. Sit back, shut up and be patient.

H-J

I'll give DT credit where credit is due. Item #1: Phelix...thank you Mr. Mayor. Item #2 Hamilton Blvd....who gives a shit. It's going to cost more money now...don't build the damn thing. Item #3 The semi's....I don't want them driving around on the highways with no licence either. The city streets......they would be going alot slower, that is a plus. Really...I don't even care one way or the other. Item #4 Jobs.....well his kids seem to be doing alright with the job situation. Must be nice getting a job without having to dress up for an interview (oh wait, they didn't do interviews...sorry). As for the rest of the jobs.....still waiting (2 1/2 months is not long....so I'll stay calm on that one). I believe anybody willing to do the job needs a pat on the back. The mayor has the right to manage the city as he sees fit.....but he does not have the right to Mis-manage. I don't expect him to part waters, feed the multitudes, turn the water into wine...nothing like that. I want fair and equal treatment for the people living in the city of Mitchell. I want promises worked on. I know he can't do it all at once, but I'd like to know where he's at on working on them. Where are jobs...who have you been talking to about moving jobs to Mitchell? Where's our better emergency services (police, fire, ems)...where is the civilian review board for the police, where is the better training for the fire department? I just want to be informed...I don't want to run to city hall everytime I have a question (or by e-mail either) These things should be posted somewhere like.....here, for all of us to read. I've been disappointed before...I'm use to it, I'm really hoping the the disappointments I've had so far with this administration are the only ones I'll have for the next 4 years.

People complain around here about EVERYTHING! It's like a past-time or a hobby. I just believe there is far too much whining and not enough backing the mayor and the decision's he has too make. If the job of being mayor were easy...alot more people would run for the position. He knew it was going to be tough, people are happy one minute, the next minute they aren't, one minute the council back's him, the next minute they don't. Looking for money, working on bringing in job's, grant's, water situation's...etc. I believe he deserve's more respect then he is being gave for stepping up to the plate and trying to repair the problem's our town has gotten into. Some people just don't know when to set down and shut up!

thunderchicken

It is amazing that you people wanted to get rid of the sore that was inside the Mitchell PD, and now that the sore is gone, no matter how, you still complain. The sore is just the tip of the iceberg involving the Mitchell PD. It is going to be a tremendous learning curve for every officer involved if they really want a halfway decent police department. I hope that someday, the Mitchell PD will make everyone proud by being a solid, honest, hard working police department that keeps Mitchell safe and a good place to live.

Peed-off

Also, for anyone who is questioning Henry being on the building board, no worries! He's a great guy, who own's a construction business, and has the capabilities to look at a building and tell you thumb's up or thumb's down. Just what the board need's. I've never seen a more positive, upbeat, guy in my life!

jl

Amen to that !!

No matter what Danny does, he will never be able to make everyone happy all of the time. It's impossible! He has only been in for a short while and has already made two awesome choice's, Steve Burton and Jim Richardson. I never seen so many street worker's working at one time and the dirty cop's are finally leaving. Hell of a start if you ask me! And what's up with the city council turning their back's on him and doing away wih a law that was obviously on the book's for a reason?? We don't need all those semi's driving through the city street's with unlicenced driver's behind the wheel! One mistake made by the driver's, too late to say I'm sorry. Drop the law to make a half dozen or so people happy and put the rest in danger, along with damage to sewer line's etc. Nice choice you made there, you unloyal, backbiting, city council member's!
