Friday night, Mitchell Police Officer Tyler Trueblood attempted to initiate a vehicle stop when the driver of the vehicle fled.  After a car chase and subsequent foot chase, during which the suspect fled into the woods, one man was taken into custody.

Troy Leatherman, 19, Mitchell, was booked into jail at 9:25 p.m. Friday evening, on charges related to the pursuit.  In addition, Leatherman was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for resisting arrest by force.

On March 13th, CVS Pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint.  The suspect in that robbery allegedly displayed a gun and made off with the prescription drugs oxycontin and methadone.  Mitchell Police Chief Presnell confirmed earlier reports that although “at the time the officers suspected him (Leatherman) … (he) is not a suspect in the CVS Pharmacy robbery”.  After being questioned by officers about the robbery, Leatherman allegedly escaped from Officer Hardman. He had eluded law enforcement until he was apprehended Friday.

Perhaps, with more physically fit police officers patrolling the streets of Mitchell, in the future we can expect to hear of more apprehensions after suspects attempt to elude the police.  Trueblood joined the Mitchell Police Department last month, replacing Brian Geyer who left earlier this year.
