Dr. Alva SibbittAlva Sibbitt, the former Superintendent of Paoli Community Schools, has earned an estimated $22,000 so far from Mitchell Community Schools for doing absolutely nothing.

Sibbitt was hired by Mitchell Community Schools to serve as Superintendent beginning January 1st.

On December 9th, however, he was arrested in Paoli after allegedly ramming his vehicle into an Indiana State Police patrol car. Sibbitt was charged with four counts: resisting law enforcement (felony), intimidation (felony), resisting law enforcement (misdemeanor), and criminal recklessness (misdemeanor).

Prior to the execution of his duties at MCS, however, the School Board placed Sibbitt on paid leave.

Based upon Sibbitt’s contracted salary, he is estimated to have earned nearly $22,000 thus far in 2011 for doing absolutely nothing at all.

The Times-Mail reported today that, at its February meeting, the Board members approved “the extension of administrators’ contracts for one year.”  An inquiry to Dr. Steve Phillips, acting Superintendent, asking if this includes Sibbitt’s contract, has not yet been answered.

Sibbitt’s criminal charges remain pending in Orange County.
