Indiana University police officer James Lerg, 30, was found by other police officers shortly after 5:30 a.m. this morning. Fellow officers found him near his police car in the gravel parking lot at Memorial Stadium, according to IU Police Chief Keith Cash.

Lerg appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was on duty at the time and had failed to respond to calls on the radio.

An initial investigation indicates that Lerg died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “He did not use a department weapon,” Chief Cash said, declining to give more information.

This seems to be a very "Fishy" situation. I can't think of the last time that someone went to work to commit suicide. Also, why on earth did he choose to bring his own weapon as opposed to use his perfectly good firearm supplied by the police? He didn't have a history of depression, but, HE WAS FORMERLY WITH THE MILITARY. Anyway, something seems really strange with this story.
