Child MurderAmanda Vandagrifft, the mother of Nathan Butler, the 11-year-old Martinsville boy who allegedly shot and killed his six-year-old brother, Andrew Frye, was arrested this morning and charged with one count of neglect of a dependent as a Class A felony.

Her boyfriend, Matthew Boulden, was also arrested and charged with three counts of neglect of a dependent as Class D felonies.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the pair had left the boys alone at home without supervision many times while knowing that Nathan Butler had a history of “past acts of violence to others including family members”.

Initial hearings for both will be held at 1 p.m. today in Morgan County Superior Court III.

Vandagrifft is being held on a $40,000 surety bond/$1,500 cash bond. Boulden is being held on a $7,500 surety bond/$1,000 cash bond.

Butler was charged with murder and reckless homicide but his case will remain in juvenile court.
