A-10 ThunderboltsArea residents will find plenty to keep them busy this weekend as the festivities kick off Friday with the annual Rotary Fish Fry being held from 4:00-7:30 p.m. at the Thornton Pavilion in Bedford.

Saturday night, you’ll want to head on over to Lehigh Field to watch the Mitchell Fireworks. They’re set to begin at 9:45 p.m., but you’ll want to show up a bit early, of course.

The annual Bedford parade will begin at noon Monday, preceded by a pair of United States Air Force A-10 Thunderbolts flying over. A-10s were recently used in attacks on ground forces in Libya.

Two bands will perform at Thornton Pavilion Saturday afternoon. From 1:30-4:30 p.m., The Residue will be entertaining, with the Lawrence County Community Band starting at 5:30 p.m.

Monday night, you’ll want to be at Parkview Field. Performing on the big stage will be Jeremy Buck and the Bang at 8 p.m., followed by a patriotic salute at 10 p.m.

The fireworks in Bedford will begin at 10:15 p.m.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, keep the fireworks laws in mind and — above all — be safe.
