It doesn’t get much more hypocritical than this.

John Newcomb, 38, a Seymour Police Department D.A.R.E. Officer, was arrested Thursday in Washington County for driving drunk.

According to Indiana State Police, Newcomb was driving a pickup pulling a D.A.R.E. trailer in Salem when he sideswiped another vehicle then crashed into a tree.

According to the Seymour Police Department website, Newcomb serves as the School Resource Officer, responsible for seven schools. He acts as a mentor, providing students with a role model. It even states that he conducts lectures on narcotics and alcohol and their effects on driving.

His blood alcohol level was 0.14, nearly twice the legal limit.
