3 Arrested on Drug Charges (Dubois/Orange Co.)

Three people were arrested on drug related charges after a traffic stop early this morning.

On Schnell Road in Dubois County, a Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a green 2002 Ford pickup truck for a traffic violation. The Deputy spotted a modified LP tank in the bed of the truck upon making contact with the driver. Knowing that this type of tank is commonly used for manufacturing methamphetamine, the Deputy called for assistance.

When other officer arrived, the two passengers in the truck were identified and the truck was searched. Other items often used in the manufacturing of meth were located, as well as a small amount of the drug.

The three were placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Acting upon information received during the traffic stop, officers then went to a home on South County Road 525 E, Marengo, in Orange County. They obtained consent to search the residence and found several items that are commonly associated with manufacturing methamphetamine.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called to provide assistance with collecting evidence and clean-up.

Police have not yet released the names of the three individuals, but they face several charges, including:

  • Conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, B Felony
  • Possession of methamphetamine, D Felony
  • Possession of two or more precursors w/ intent to manufacture, D Felony
  • Maintaining a common nuisance, D Felony
  • Possession of marijuana, A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of paraphernalia, A Misdemeanor
  • Visiting a common nuisance, B Misdemeanor
