Wednesday afternoon, Crawford County police received a 911 call reporting that one man appeared dead and another was unconscious at 3437 Oak Grove Road, Apartment 3, in Marengo, Indiana. Officers and first responders arrived a short time later and called for an air ambulance to transport the man that was still alive to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Officers secured the area and requested assistance from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Investigators. The Crawford County Coroner’s office also responded and pronounced one male dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for today in Louisville.

The injured male is listed in critical condition.

Police aren’t yet releasing any further information, including the names of the victims. Trooper Detective Troy Fischer said, “The circumstances surrounding this death investigation are suspicious and if anyone has any information they are encouraged to call the Jasper Post at 812-482-1441.”
