“To Protect and Serve” is the theme of this year’s Persimmon Festival, which officially kicks off today.

Mitchell News has put together a comprehensive list of everything you could possibly need or want to know about this year’s festivities.

Check out the directory of 2011 Persimmon Festival Chairpersons that make this whole thing happen and who this year’s Grand Marshals are. Find out what daily events, such as the Persimmon Festival Queen Contests, will be taking place, including the entertainment on the Main Street Stage.

RELATED: Trying to remember who won the queen contests last year? We’ve got a list of past Persimmon Festival Queen Contest Winners too.

Have children? You’ll definitely want to read about the armbands and tickets for the carnival rides.

Maybe you come to the Festival for the food. Find out about the daily food events as well as the dinners in the main food tent each day or check out the 2010 winning recipes: Eva Powell’s Persimmon Pudding recipe and Becky Mason’s Persimmon Truffle recipe.

If you’re coming to the Persimmon Festival from out of town, be sure to check out the Persimmon Festival Map which shows where all the festivities are located.

See you downtown!
