Roxanne ShahFriday morning, over eight months after she was last seen, the body of a missing Indianapolis woman was found.

A man jogging along the shore at Indiana Dunes State Park found the body of 47-year-old Roxanne Shah around 8:40 a.m. Friday morning, according to a Gene Davis, a Conservation Officer with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The jogger notified employees who called in conservation officers. There was no signs of foul play, said Davis.

Shah was last seen on February 7th after she left her husband a note saying that she needed “to get my head together” and that she’d return in a few days.

That night, however, her minivan was found abandoned, parked near the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

An autopsy was performed Friday and Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris said that it appears that Shah drowned. He ruled her death an apparent suicide, but not did go into any details surrounding her death.

Harris said that they were able to identify Shah, in part, from tattoos that matched descriptions given to police by her family. It appeared that her body was in the water for many months, he said.

“There was a significant amount of decomposition,” said Harris.
