Man Cuts Hole in Roof of Jewelry Store, Gets Arrested

Chief Dennis Parsley of the Bedford Police Department says that a Bedford man cut a hole in the roof of the J. Howard Jewelers store on James Avenue in an attempt to rob the store.

Police served a search warrant at the man’s home Friday. After police searched his house, they arrested Michael Simmons, 22, 2217 H Street.

He was charged with attempted burglary and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
