Around 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a 50-year-old Scottsburg, Indiana, woman suffered a gunshot wound while target shooting with relatives.

Betty Jo Daniel was target shooting at 5942 South Slate Ford Road in Underwood in Scott County when the handgun she was shooting jammed. She handed the firearm to another family member to clear the jam. When the family member cleared the jam, the gun discharged, striking Betty Jo Daniel.

She was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital by air ambulance where she was listed in serious condition.

Investigators do not believe that any foul play is involved.
