Gerald Tolliver passed away the evening of Thursday, December 29.

Tolliver retired from Mitchell High School after teaching for 40 years. He was recently elected to serve as Councilman for Mitchell’s District 2. He was Chairman of the Mitchell Persimmon Festival in 1989 and 1991 and, in 2002, received the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year award.

Visitation will be Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Mitchell Church of Christ on Main Street.

Additional visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10-11 a.m. in the Church of Christ with services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Mitchell High School Scholarship Fund, “since teaching and helping others was his passion”.
