Derick Sanchez, Bedford, was arrested and charged with two counts of child molesting as a Class A felony after he was found in a storage room at a Bedford church with a 12-year-old boy.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says that Sanchez, who resides at 415 19th Street, was involved in various youth programs at the Cornerstone Worship Center.

A probable cause affidavit filed in Lawrence Superior Court I alleges that Sanchez, 29, molested a 12-year-old boy more than once.

A youth pastor apparently caught Sanchez with the boy, whose pants who around his ankles, in the storage room during a back-to-school gathering at the church.

The boy was questioned by a youth minister and reported that Sanchez had performed oral sex on him. The boy stated that the misconduct first occurred during vacation bible school.

During questioning by Lawrence County Police Department Detective Troy Lobosky, Sanchez admitted that he had molested the boy.

Each of the Class A felony counts carries a possible sentence of 20 to 50 years in prison.
