On Thursday, federal authorities arrested a Bedford man after he was indicted by a grand jury on charges related to child pornography.

Charged with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography is John William Hudson II, 46. He was arrested at 1717 14th Street, Bedford, on the warrant out of the New Albany Division of the United States District Court’s Southern District of Indiana.

After being arrested, Hudson was transported to the Marion County Jail and appeared before Magistrate Judge Kennard P. Foster for an initial court appearance, where he waived formal arraignment and an automatic not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. Hudson is scheduled for a jury trial in New Albany at 9 a.m. on October 22 in front of Judge Tanya Walton Pratt.

According to the grand jury’s indictment, on or around January 26, Hudson distributed, electronically, 20 images “which contained a visual depiction of a minor under the age of 18 engaging in sexually explicit conduct”. The indictment also alleges that Hudson, on or around May 1, possessed more than one “image, film, videotape or other matter” depicting a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The FBI took several items from Hudson, including a Toshiba laptop computer and two USB thumb drives and one hard drive, all of which contained pornographic images of children, such as a file named “showerboy4.JPG”.
