After receiving a call about possible child neglect and drug activity, police accompanied Child Protective Services to a home in the 400 block of South Roosevelt Street in Orleans. While there, they found methamphetamine laying in plain sight.

Police obtained a search warrant and discovered that methamphetamine was being manufactured in the home.

Michael Simpson, 32, and Leslie Simpson, 29, both of Orleans, were charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of precursors, and maintaining a common nuisance.

A small child was removed from the home and placed in the care of family members.
