A 26-year-old man convicted of child molesting in 2007 was recently released from prison and is now residing in Mitchell.

At 10:44 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Mitchell News received an electronic notification that Josiah Jacob Neace, pictured above, had registered with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department as residing in Mitchell.

Public records indicate that Neace was charged in June 2006 with child molesting, a class B felony, in Johnson County. Indiana Code 35-42-4-3, which Neace was convicted of violating on August 20, 2007, reads, in part:

“A person who, with a child under fourteen (14) years of age, performs or submits to sexual intercourse or deviate sexual conduct commits child molesting, a Class B felony.”

According to the Indiana Department of Corrections, Neace was sentenced to seven years in prison and was released on December 3, 2009. On November 3, 2011, Neace was once again convicted — presumably for violating the terms of his parole or probation. He was scheduled to be released this past Monday, November 19.

Neace now resides at 2341 Old Highway 60 West, approximately one-quarter mile northwest of the CVS Pharmacy in Mitchell (see map below). He is 5’10” tall and weighs 201 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Neace is considered a sexually violent predator.
