Saturday, September 17

8 a.m. – Community Wide Yard Sale. Get your list of participants at the Chamber office during normal business hours.

12 p.m. – EMS Day. High School lot on 12th Street. Area EMS agencies display equipment and vehicles until 4 p.m.

3 p.m. – Mini-Miss, Little Miss, and Junior Miss Persimmon Pageants. High School Auditorium. Preliminary judging and interviews. Open to the public. $2 admission.

4 p.m. – Candlelight Tour. Spring Mill State Park. Sponsored by Tri-Kappa Sorority. Gate fees will be charges (annual park passes are accepted).

All Day – 5th Annual World Persimmon Series. Get involved in this family softball tournament. Entry fee $125 per team.

Sunday, September 18

12 p.m. – Horseshoe Tournament. City Park. Sponsored by the Mitchell Horseshoe Leage.

1 p.m. – Persimmon Road Rally. High School Faculty Parking Lot.

7 p.m. – Community Vesper Service. High School Auditorium. Sponsored by the Mitchell Ministerial Association. Youth service will be at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow. Anthony Thompson speaking at 7 p.m.

Monday, September 19

4:30 p.m. – Lasagna Dinner. Seventh Street Food Tent. Sponsored by the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.

4:30 p.m. – Persimmon Festival Queen Pageant. High School Auditorium. Preliminary judging. Open to the public. $2 admission.

5:00 p.m. – Carnival and Rides. Main Street. Armband and ticket information.

6:00 p.m. – Queen, Mini, Little and Junior Miss contests. Main Street Stage.

8:00 p.m. – Crowning of the Persimmon Festival Queen. Main Street Stage.

Tuesday, September 20

4:30 p.m. – Pork Dinner. Seventh Street Food Tent. Sponsored by the Mitchell Township Volunteer Fire Department.

5:00 p.m. – Carnival and Rides. Main Street. Armband and ticket information.

6:00 p.m. – WUME Lip Sync contest. Main Street stage. Register for the program beginning at 5 p.m. Categories based on ages. Prizes awarded to winners. Sponsored by WUME.

Wednesday, September 21

11:30 a.m. – Italian Lunch and Dinner. Main Food Tent. Sponsored by St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

12:00 p.m. – Senior Citizen’s Afternoon. Main Street Stage area.

5:00 p.m. – Carnival and Rides. Main Street. Armband and ticket information.

6:00 p.m. – Mitchell Varsity Singers. Main Street Stage.

6:20 p.m. – Mitchell Junior High Dance Team. Main Street Stage.

6:40 p.m. – Mitchell Dance Team. Main Street Stage.

Thursday, September 22

1:00 p.m. – American Red Cross Blood Drive. Main Street, Church of Christ, until 6 p.m.

Saturday, September 24

6-10 a.m. – Pancake Breakfast. Masonic Lodge, 9th & Brook Streets. Sponsored by the Masonic Lodge.

7:30 a.m. – Persimmon 5-K, One Mile Fun Run, Persimmon 5-K Walk. Mitchell High School lobby for registration.

9:00 a.m. – Tri-County Antique Tractor and Equipment Association. Behind Hoosier Uplands, between 5th & 6th Streets.

11:00 a.m. – Barbecue Chicken Dinner. Main Food Tent. Sponsored by the Mitchell Lions Club.

11:00 a.m. – Veterans program. Local veterans will be honored. Main Street Stage.

1:00 p.m. – Pre-Parade Introductions. Main Street Stage. Attend the posting of the colors and the patriotic ceremony which opens the annual parade. We also introduce the Grand Marshals, Mayor, and other dignitaries. JoAnna Kai Cobb will sing the National Anthem.

2:00 p.m. – Grand Parade. Rain or shine. One of Indiana’s largest parades forms at Lehigh Field, then moves west on Main Street to 7th Street, north to Warren Street, west to 8th Street, an ends at Mitchell High School. The Grand Marshals invite you to come out and watch the many special attractions in this year’s parade, including the annual favorite, the Southshore Drill Team, and many other exciting acts to celebrate the Persimmon Festival’s 65th anniversary.

4:15 p.m. – Persimmon Festival Awards. Main Street Stage. The awards will include those for the Persimmon Pudding and Novelty Dessert Contests.

4:30 p.m. – Rylie Nicole Brown. Main Street Stage. Brown is from Lees Summit, Missouri. She is 14 years old and sings pop, country, and a variety of other songs. She will perform during the parade before she takes the Main Street Stage for her Persimmon Festival debut.

6:00 p.m. – KROSS. Main Street Stage. KROSS was a popular Bedford cover band in the 1980s and includes members Steve Byers, Tom Barrett, Jay Wilson, and Jerry Spradlin. The band made its Persimmon Festival debut in 2010.
